DuPage County Handles Most Naperville Cases

Most Naperville traffic court records go through DuPage County. The DuPage County Circuit Clerk office is at 505 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton, IL 60187. For traffic questions, call (630) 407-8600. Circuit Clerk Candice Adams runs the office. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. DuPage County is in the 18th Judicial Circuit.

The portion of Naperville in Will County sends traffic cases to the Will County Circuit Clerk at 100 W. Jefferson St., Joliet, IL 60432. Call (815) 727-8592 for help. Will County is in the 12th Judicial Circuit. Check the top of your ticket to see which county is listed. That determines where to search for your Naperville traffic court records.

The City of Naperville website has city services and local information, but the city itself does not store traffic court records. All cases go through the county circuit clerk.

Search Naperville Traffic Records Online

For DuPage County cases, use the DuPage E-Access Portal to search by name or case number. This site contains case information on file in the 18th Judicial Circuit Court of DuPage County. It does not include case information of inactive, impounded, sealed, or expunged cases. You can view case status, next court date, and docket entries for free.

For Will County cases, use the iPublic portal. Search by name, case number, or ticket number. You can find court date information and the amount of money owed, if applicable. The bottom of your traffic citation will indicate whether you are required to attend court. If your ticket is marked "No Court Appearance Required," you may avoid court by either pleading guilty and sending certified payment by mail or paying online.

DuPage County charges $2 for the first page of copies, $0.50 for pages 2 through 20, and $0.25 for pages 21 and up. Certification costs $6 per seal. Under 55 ILCS 5/4-2001, the circuit clerk must maintain all court records. The online tools are just summaries.

Naperville Traffic Court Fees

Fines for Naperville traffic court cases follow the same state fee schedule. Under 705 ILCS 135/, the Criminal and Traffic Assessment Act sets the base structure. Most minor traffic tickets cost between $120 and $250 with all court costs added. Serious violations like DUI or reckless driving cost much more.

DuPage County lets you pay traffic fines through the E-Pay portal. Will County offers online payment through iPublic. You can also pay by mail or in person at either courthouse. Cash, checks, money orders, and credit cards are accepted at both locations. The Illinois e-Guilty system may also work for some Naperville traffic tickets that do not need a court appearance.

Under 625 ILCS 5/, the Vehicle Code sets which violations need a court appearance. Court supervision follows state rules in 730 ILCS 5/5-6-1. You must not have had supervision in the last 12 months to qualify.
