Macon County also has traffic walk-in hours. These are on Thursdays from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the Macon County Courthouse, 2nd Floor. Walk-ins are first come, first served, and you need to arrive by 2:15 p.m. to check in. Traffic walk-in hours are only for those charged with minor traffic offenses. Persons charged with DUIs or criminal misdemeanor or felony cases will have to go to court and go through the court process. This is a unique option that not every county in Illinois offers, so it can save Macon County residents a lot of time.

Macon County Traffic Court Fees

Traffic fines and costs in Macon County follow the statewide fee schedule. Under 705 ILCS 135/, the Criminal and Traffic Assessment Act sets the base amounts. Most minor traffic tickets in Macon County end up costing between $120 and $250 total. Court supervision typically costs more because of the added traffic school fee.

You can pay fines online through the Judici website or CourtMoney. In person payments are accepted at the clerk's office in Decatur. Cash, checks, and money orders are all good at the counter. Credit and debit cards are accepted too, but a convenience fee applies. Under 625 ILCS 5/, the Illinois Vehicle Code determines the base fines for different types of traffic violations. Macon County adds required state and county assessments on top of those base amounts.
